Abstract

A flatiron has a large reservoir for water A, which is formed from an upper shell-like element 101 of the flatiron body 1, disposed immediately below the handle 201, joined to a lower shell-like element 3. An electrical heating resistance R is embedded in the upper surface of a soleplate 7, inside a bead 6 which projects upwardly from the soleplate surface and encloses a large area of this surface. An intermediate plate 11 is supported on the bead to form a large evaporation chamber 13, which communicates through suitable ducts 16 with a peripheral chamber 17 having steam vents 18 for discharging steam to the outside of the soleplate. The thermostat device T is arranged in a cavity located between the lower shell-like element 3 and the plate 11. <IMAGE>
