Abstract

A plate comprises an electrical resistance heater, a sole piece with steam delivery holes and ribs on the upper side, and a cover seal-tightly secured on the ribs. The ribs and cover form at least two separate steam delivery chambers, each with a set of delivery holes, the chambers communicating with each other via a conduit with an on/off valve. The valve is pref. a ball movable between an open position when the plate is horizontal, and a closed position when the plate is vertical. The heater is pref. associated with the cover and the ribs define a steam intake and superheating chamber enclosing frusto-conical nipples fixed to the cover and forming heat accumulators.
