Abstract

The invention relates to fastening devices for ropes and the like and in particular to fasteners for road haulage vehicles. The stud 1 has two or more annular grooves 3 around its periphery to receive and grip the rope coils 4. The wall between the grooves is formed with a gap or channel 6 enabling the rope to be passed from one groove to another. The grooves are adapted to squeeze the rope laterally as it is entered and so cause an initial grip which is fully developed by means of the coils. The free end of the rope 12 is nipped under the working leg II for greater security. <IMAGE>
