595,315. Clips ; cord-fastenings. POOLE, P. H. Nov. 2, 1944, No. 21514. [Class 44] A fastener for rope and the like is provided with a channel E at least twice as wide as the diameter of the rope and a gripping device B on one side of the channel, the device extending not more than halfway thereacross, so that the rope can run freely in both directions in the open part H of the channel, but in one direction only in the other part. The device B may be, as shown, a pivoted plate associated with a stop C, or a sliding plate or bar, or a sliding wheel, and may be carried to gripping position by gravity or spring pressure. The channel may be formed by any suitable surface on a device to which the gripping device is applied, e.g. a pulley sheave.
