Abstract

200,006. Newton, C. A. Oct. 16, 1922. Microscopes.-A portable microscope illuminating appliance comprises a rod 6, upon which is mounted a lamp 8, a condenser 9, and a light filter support 10, the rods 6 being connected by a swivelled joint 3, 4 to a vertical stand 2 having a base 1. The adjustable arms by which the fittings 8, 9, 10 are supported are clamped to the rod 6 by screws 12, 13, 14 so that the fittings may be moved together without altering their relative positions, when the rod 6 is adjusted. The condenser 9 is supported on the rod 6 behind a collar 16 so that it may be swung out of the optical axis without changing its focal plane. When fitting a Nicol prism in the support 10 this support is arranged between the lamp 8 and the condenser 9.
