Abstract
199,869. Douglas, J. April 19, 1922. Hoods and weather screens. - A hood for motor vehicles, especially motor cycle side cars, is of the roll type and is adapted to be secured to the windscreen when in use and located in a housing at the back of the vehicle when not in use. The housing 2, Fig. 2, accommodates the curved frame members 1 and is preferably provided with rollers 3 and lined with felt. Lever turnbuckles secure the hood to the windscreen uprights. A second housing 6 is provided for the hood. In another form, the frame, which is rectangular, comprises side members 13, 14, Fig. 9, adapted to be folded to act as side arms. Metal side curtains provided with windows are adapted to slide down into the body work and be raised by a tag 17. The roll hood 18 is shown with a tag 19 for withdrawal. In a further modification, the frame members are formed in one with the side curtains and are adapted to slide vertically, parts of the frame members forming arm rests for the car. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 199,814.
