Feed-water, controlling.-Relates to apparatus of the kind in which a valve, such as the suction or the steam valve of the feed-pump, is controlled by a piston or the. like pressure-operated device, the supply of pressure fluid to the device being so reguated in accordance with the boiler waterlevel, that when the level falls, the device moves the valve to such a position that water is supplied to the boiler. According to the invention, the conduit 17,which supplies pressure fluid from a boiler 20 to piston or like device 12, has an outlet 21 through which, normally, the fluid leaks, the outlet being closed by a float-valve 19 when the boiler water falls below a certain level. The pressure fluid forces the piston downwards against the tension of a spring 16, thus moving a rod 13 out of contact with the pump suction valve 5. In modifications, the rod is secured to a rotary valve controlling the steam supply to the feed pump or injector.
