Abstract

199,296. Wild, R. Aug. 28, 1922. Lubricant conveyed by mechanical means.-A lubricating belt or chain 5 for lubricating rolling- stock or other bearings is driven from a pulley or toothed wheel 7 carried on a countershaft 8 carrying a second pulley or toothed wheel 10 which is driven by means associated with the shaft or axle 1. The driving means comprises a belt or chain 9 engaging with a pulley or toothed wheel 11 mounted on the axle. The chain 9 may be replaced by an intermediate gear-wheel. The countershaft 8 is supported in plates 12, 13 secured to the ends of the bearing block 3. The oil bath 6 is placed in position after the bearing is assembled, and is arranged to enclose all the parts. In a modification in which the bearing comprises rollers rotating on fixed axes, the belt or chain 9 passes over pulleys or toothed wheels mounted on the rollers, and the belt or chain 5 passes over the rollers.
