Abstract

198,580. Fornaca, G. June 30, 1922, Windscreens. - A windscreen 3, Fig. 1, for the rear seat of a motor vehicle adapted either to lie along the side of the vehicle or to be extended transversely when in use, is mounted on a hinged arm 1 by means of a pivot 5 which is located nearer to the attached edge 6 of the screen frame than to its free edge 6<1>, the attachment of the edge 6 being effected by a depending rod 7 jointed to a swivelling support 8, Fig. 4, having a shouldered roller 9 sliding in a guide 10 arranged on the side of the vehicle. When the vehicle is in motion, the wind pressure on the screen tends to maintain it in its extended position. The arm 1 is hinged to the side of the vehicle by means of a pivot 2, Fig. 3, having a projecting pin 13 adapted to engage a bayonet slot 14 in the support 12, a spring 16 normally preventing the pin 13 from being shaken out of the slot 14 by vibrations, but forcing the pin outwardly when for dismounting purposes it is brought opposite to the entrance 18 of the slot.
