Abstract

196,479. Marchand, H. April 29, 1922. Liquid level, maintaining. - A constant level of oil is maintained in the pump 5 of an internal-combustion engine by the supply of oil from a reservoir 10, the supply being controlled by a float mechanism comprising two concentric ported tubes 15, 16, of which the former slides, under the influence of a float 19, in the latter. The ports 17 of the tube 15 are arranged to register with the ports 18 of the tube 16 so long as the oil in the sump is below the desired level, but cut off the supply when the oil rises to or above that level. The tubes pass through a partition 13 separating the reservoir 10 from a float chamber 12 communicating with the sump by a channel 11. The level in the bath 4 is varied by a perforated tube 9 as described in Specification 196,478.
