Abstract

195,968. Punga, F. April 7, 1922, [Convention date]. Testing balance of rotary apparatus.-The -shast upon which the body to be tested is mounted is arranged to oscillate about an axis between its bearings, which are arranged at a - constant and minimum distance from this axis -sufficient merely to permit of driving the shaft, the latter carrying towards its ends the test body and a balancing body respectively. The shaft F is carried in ball bearings C, D united to form one unit which can oscillate about an axis G, midway between the bearings, crown ball bearings being provided at top and bottom of the bearing unit to secure this. The body A is mounted towards one ,.end and a balancing body towards the other end of the shaft F which is driven by a belt E the central plane of which passes through the axis G and is perpendicular to the plane of oscillation. In addition to the determination of dynamic balance, the apparatus may be used to improve the static balance by determination of the plane of the out ofbalance force in a broad pulley. The balancing body may be constructed as described in Specification 148,469.
