Abstract
195,962. Maschinenfabrik Oerlikon. April 4, 1922, [Convention date]. Fluid-actuated value-3.-The valves for controlling the supply of actuating fluid to a cylinder actuating an electric switch are provided with spring tumbler loading devices and are connected to their operating pistons by lost-motion devices. The switch 1 is kept closed by a piston 3 and is opened by the admission of fluid through a pipe 7 to a diaphragm 8, which acts on a piston 9 against a spring 6. The piston moves a distance H to meet the tappet 11, and then moves the valves 4, 5 a distance h, thereby admitting fluid through the valve 5 to open the switch. On the pressure being reduced, the spring 17 holds the valve 4 closed until the piston on its return stroke has traversed the distance H and encounters the tappet 10. The valve 4 is then lifted and the spring 2 closes the switch. The snap device operates on the dead-centre principle, and comprises a tension spring 12, attached to the pivot 13, and a knee-lever 14, 15, 16 connected at 16 to the piston. By means of it a more rapid reversal of valves 4, 5 is effected.
