Abstract

195,620. Textilwerk Horn Akt.-Ges. April 3, 1922, [Convention date]. Inkless printing by chemical reaction resist printing.- Pattern effects may be produced by applying resists such as rubber solution, glue, &c. before submitting cotton fabrics to the treatment described below. The fabrics are rendered trans. parent and soft by treating them with a, solution of ammonia salts in sulphuric acid, the ammonia salts obviating the stiffese produced in cotton fabrics treated with the usual sulphuric acid of 50¢‹-54‹ BÚ. Three examples are given in the Specification in which the fabric is treated with 69, 72, and 82 per cent, of sulphuric acid; 5, 10, and 12 per cent of ammonium sulphate; and 26, 18, and 6 per cent of water, respectively. In these examples, the treatment is carried out at temperatures between 10‹ and 18‹C. for a period of 5-10 seconds. The treating-solution may be made by the addition of hartshorn salt, sal ammoniac, ammonium acetate, or ammonium phosphate to sulphuric acid. Bleached mercerized fabric dried under tension may be treated with the solution and then squeezed, washed, and dried under tension. The transparent effect may be increased by subsequent mercerizing with soda lye and drying under tension. The fabric may be submitted to a further treatment with sulphuric acid, ammonium sulphate, and water to render it more transparent and softer. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a), states also that the fabric may be repeatedly submitted to treatment to render it more transparent and softer. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification a.s accepted.
