Indicating duration of flow of liquids.-In liquid-measuring apparatus comprising a pump adapted to deliver a definite quantity of liquid over a weir into a delivery pipe, the liquid remaining at the level of the top of the weir when the apparatus is at rest, windows are provided through which the level may beobserved with the help of a float, and flow-indicators may be fitted to show when liquid is passing. A combined flow and flow-indicator 32 is shown, slidably mounted on a rod 34 on the pump side of the weir 12 and arranged so that when the liquid is at the level of the weir it shall be visible through a window 16; it consists of a hollow spinner which rotates when liquid flows over the weir into the delivery pipe 10. If the liquid level falls due to evaporation or leakage the float will drop out of sight. To determine accurately the level there may be a mark on the glass at the level of the weir and a liquid-level line on the spinner. In modifications a ball in a wire cage is used as float and a fixed spinner to indicate the flow. Specifications 8558/04, 17943/12 and 148,483 are referred to.
