Abstract

194,240. Gerrard, A. J., and Wright, P. Feb. 6, 1922. Bale ties.-Wire bale ties which are to be used in straining and twisting machines, such as are described in Specification 197,020, are provided with a deformed end to facilitate engagement by the straining mechanism. The deformation may comprise a flattened portion 15 with shoulders 16, so that upon engagement with the holding members 17, 20 of the straining- machine the end 9 is pulled into a position pointing downwards as shown in Fig. 3, preventing projecting ends in the finished knot. Ties may be deformed at one or both ends and square shoulders 25, Fig. 8, may be provided.
