Trusses.-The pads of surgical trusses consist of a rigid backing-plate 3, with vertical and horizontal slots for the reception of the securing belts, the plates 3 having a wash-leather casing secured by a ring 4 and screws 5. A pneumatic pad 2 with a flexible extension 13 is carried within the casing and has a screw-adjustable. valve 16 for inflation purposes which can be stowed within a loop in a band 24. An enlargement 23 is provided on the pad 2 in case of accidental deflation. A complete truss is shown in Fig. 1 in which the body belt, fastened by a buckle 8, adjustably carries the pads 1 and hip belts 10. In a modification, the rear of pad is closed by a pivoted plate to allow of the pneumatic pad being easily removed. In a further modification, the pneumatic pad is directly attached to a rigid backing.
