Abstract

193,095. Sjostrom, I. L. Oct. 17, 1921. Tobacco.-Relates to improvements in apparatus of the kind claimed in Specification 20354/14, [Class 96, Paper &c.]. The natural moisture content of which hygroscopic materials such as tobacco have been deprived is supplied by conveying them through a substantially air-tight casing on endless conveyers in close proximity to one or more absorbent travelling bands which are supplied with moisture from troughs, pans, &c. The tobacco is fed through a substantially airtight casing k on an endless conveyer b between the stretches of one or more endless absorbent bands c of felt &c. which run through a trough d. Surplus liquid from the lower stretches of the bands may be returned to the trough by a deflecting plate e. The upper stretches may be moistened from a second trough f by means of feed rollers g.
