The body e may be of metal or of organic material such as vulcanite, fibre, celluloid etc.; may be so rigid as to be non-oscillatory, or may have natural frequencies which are harmonics of the fundamental frequency of the diaphragm a; and may be in the form of a single disc as shown, a number of discs spaced at intervals on the same carrier, or a hollow body with its open end outwards.
