Abstract
192,235. Vickers, Ltd., and Pool, W. Nov. 28, 1921. S p i n d l e apparatus; spindle-driving apparatus. -In a cap spindle the bobbin D is mounted on a sleeve L detachable from the fixed hollow column A which surrounds the slidable rod B carrying the cap C, and is mounted on a rubber or like pad J. The upper end of the sleeve L is enlarged to form a head T which prevents axial movement of the bobbin, and ball bearings F<2> are interposed as shown between the sleeve L and the column A. The sleeve L is resiliently connected by a spring ring R to an intermediate driving-member K which supports the bobbin and is provided with driving pegs k', the member K forming a cone friction-clutch with the portion e<1> of the driving-wharl E. When a bobbin is full the member K can be raised out of engagement with the part e' by means such as a lever M, and the cap C is then removed and the sleeve L and bobbin D withdrawn.
