Abstract

18,039. Beaton, R. Dec. 28. Boat-lowering gear ; transporting boats across ship decks.-In a boat launching and lowering gear of the kind in which the overhead runways for supporting the boat carriage have pivoted outboard extensions, a pair of pulleys 11 is arranged on the carriage 12 over which the boat falls pass, one end leading to the boat blocks, and the other end leading over pulleys 10 at the end of the pivoted extension 5 and thence to the winch. Each outboard extension is formed of an integral triangular framework the base of which carries worm gearing for swinging it outboard. A pin,or roller is fitted to guide the boat falls. Means are described for traversing the carriage 12.
