Abstract

16,751. Doxford, W. Nov. 27. Indicators, signal.- The level of a liquid in a closed chamber is indicated by means of an arm or feeler carrying an electric lead and adapted to be rotated or moved up and down in the chamber by hand until its end dips into the liquid, when an electric circuit is completed, as indicated, for example, by the lighting of a lamp. The apparatus is particularly adapted to indicate the junction level of the salt-water and oil in the marine oil-storage tank described in Specification 14,672/14, [Class 113 (ii), Ships and boats, Kinds &c. of]. The arm B, Fig. 1, is rotated through worm gearing by a hand-wheel E<4> in the buoyancy space A<2>. The position of the arm is indicated by a weight F<4> on a wire passing over multiplying-gear and around a pulley on the shaft carrying the arm. The arm may be rotated by a hand-lever carrying a pointer moving over a sector scale. The electric lead B<3>, Fig. 4, is carried on a flexible hollow steel rope P wound around a drum S provided with a hand-wheel and connected to an indexdisk S<7>.
