Abstract

16,228. Moore, R. B. Nov. 17. Radium sulphate; uranium and vanadium nitrates.-Radium ores are treated with anacid (nitric acid being mentioned), and the solution, containing nitrates of uranium and vanadium, is then treated to precipitate the radium, preferably by neutralizing the solution, for instance with sodium hydrate or carbonate, and adding small quantities of barium chloride and sulphuric acid or sodium sulphate. The radium sulphate precipitate is then separated.
