Discharging-appliances.-In concrete-mixers consisting of a series of inverted conical chambers arranged one above the other, the door at the bottom of each chamber is so arranged that, when its securing-means is released, the door swings open to allow the contents of the chamber to pass into the chamber next below, and when the door is closed, it automatically locks itself. The hinge-pin 5 of the door 9 passes through lugs 3 on a bracket 2 secured to the cone 1, and through lugs 10 on the door. When closed, a lip 12 on the end of the door is engaged by the peak 13 of a catch 14, which is mounted on a pin 15 carried by brackets and terminates in an extension 18 forming a counterweight. Holes 20, 21 are formed in a horn 19 secured to the door and in the catch 14 for the attachment of cords, &c., so that the doors of all the chambers can be operated from one position. A spring may be used instead of the counterweight to operate the catch.
