Abstract
14,431. Flack, A. M., [Hallick, W.]. Oct 12. Equipments for carrying purposes.-A military carrying-equipment comprises a waist-belt made in three sections of which the middle one 11 is adjustable in length and carries two sliding straps 20 each with a pair of rings 21, 22. The supporting- braces 19 pass over the shoulder and are connected behind by an adjustable strap 33<a> to the middle section, and in front are passed through rings 17 on vertical bands 15 on the end sections. The free ends are then secured by buckles on the braces. The water bottle is slung from a loop 18 on one vertical band and from one ring loop 22. The haversack is similarly slung at the other side and is closed by side flaps 51, 57, Fig. 7 ; it contains the bread bag 53 and canteen loops 56. The pack is slung by straps 39 secured by buckles and loops on the braces. It is closed by flaps similarly to the haversack and has an additional blanket strap. Straps 46 cross over the outer flap, and additional straps below anchor the pack to the rings 21. Each cartridge pouch is closed by a flap 34, Fig. 8, and secured by straps 32 embracing the belt. A ring 35 registering with the ring 17 allows the pouch to be secured directly to the braces.
