The shaft g coupled to the driven sha.ft d may be the propeller shaft, or additional gearing may be employed between the shaft and the propeller shaft h. The shaft d may pass through the condenser inlet pipe f as shown, or through the condenser itself. The condenser is arranged with its longitudinal axis perpendicular to the vertical plane through the turbine shafts.
