12,489. Goldman, I. Aug. 31. Teeth artificial.-A porcelain tooth facing A is formed on its back surface with a square or rectangular boss B having an internally threaded or undercut recess C therein. The boss B tapers towards the cutting-edge of the tooth or, as shown in Fig. 9, towards the inner edge of the grinding- surface in the case of a molar tooth. A metal backing D is formed with a recess E to receive the boss B, and with a screw-threaded or notched projection F fitting loosely into the recess C and secured therein by cement. The backing D may be formed with a lip G, Fig. 8, to protect the cutting-edge of the tooth, and in teeth having rectangular bosses, the recess C and projection F may be elliptical in cross-section.
