Fire and smoke tube superheaters.-In a firetube superheater element consisting of tube loops d, e, Fig. 2, connected in parallel, to lessen the transmission of heat from the superheated steam to the cooled gases in the end of the fire-tube, the element is connected, at a point h behind the turning point g of the loops, to a single discharge tube f having a crosssection equal to that of tubes of the element. An element may also have a single inlet tube m, Fig. 3. the connexion of which to the element is preferably arranged outside the fire-tube. The discharge tube may have a heat-insulating covering. The loops of an element may be arranged in either vertical or horizontal parallel planes. The inlet and discharge tubes may be connected to an element in the manner described in Specification 10,174/14, [Class 99 (i) Pipes and tubes, joints &c., for.]
