[Cognate Application, 1414/16.] Vertical boilers.-In a boiler of the kind described in Specification 11,564/13, comprising a lower drum 2 traversed by vertical fire-tubes, an upper drum 1, and an intermediate smokebox 3, the feed-pipe 5 arranged in alinement with the downcomer 4 terminates above the lower edge of the upper drum, and one side of each of the return connexions 6 is formed by the wall of the smoke-box. The return connexions may be arranged centrally, and the downcomer eccentrically, of the boiler.
