Abstract

8425. Rheinische Metallwaaren, und Maschinenfabriek. July 4, 1914, [Convention date]. Dash-pots.-Relates to spring-hung gun carriages having supplementary shock-absorbers in the form of hydraulic cylinders and pistons, openings in the pistons being closed to stop the flow of fluid in order to establish a rigid connexion between the carriage and its support at the time of firing. The invention consists in providing means for establishing the rigid connexion by the co-operation of levers oonnected to the shock-absorbers, with arms secured to hinged side walls, which can be turned down to enlarge the carriage platform, as shown in Fig. 2, the piston being rotated to close the fluid passages by means of a link l jointed to an arm k fixed to the piston stem. The link l is pivoted to a member p loosely hung on the hinge-pin w. When the side wall m of the carriage platform is turned downwards, an arm q secured thereto engages one side r of an opening in the member p to actuate the link l.
