Abstract

The invention relates to a wing-door closer which is equipped with a damping element and which consists of a main part which is arranged on the inside of the door or wall and is mounted perpendicularly to the hinge axis and within which is arranged a helical spring generating the closing movement of the door. The spring acts on an arm which at one end is mounted by means of a joint on the door frame or, if the door closer is mounted in the wall, on the door leaf and at the other end on the damping element delaying the speed of the closing movement. The damping element is formed from a hydraulic cylinder arranged within the helical spring and from a piston which is fastened immovably in relation to the main part and the rod of which projects from the hydraulic cylinder on both sides of the piston through the two ends of the cylinder. The hydraulic cylinder is so attached to the arm that the arm moves the hydraulic cylinder during the opening of the door and the spring generating the closing movement acts on the arm via the hydraulic cylinder. Channels for the flow of a hydraulic fluid from one side of the piston to the other are made in the piston and a directional valve is arranged on the piston and/or on the piston rod.
