7763. Hanna, J., and Shillington, A. F. May 25. Moistening rovings in spinning-machines for flax &c. The trough is made with double walls a, b, Fig. 1, to form a space through which air can be circulated. Holes b<1> are placed where the roving enters and leaves the trough. The steam issuing from the trough is either met by dry hot air forced out of these holes, or is drawn through them by suction means. A duct f, Fig. 5, may be arranged on the cover, either in lieu of, or in addition to, the double-walled jacket. The duct may be divided, as shown, into two parts, through one of which heated air is delivered, and through the other of which the vapour issuing from the trough is withdrawn.
