Abstract

1303. Marr, A. N. Jan. 18. Drying yarns in long lengths.-In apparatus for drying yarns and warps in which the yarns &c. pass over a number of rollers in a chamber divided into compartments through which heated air passes, the air moves in the same direction as the yarn and is directed against it by triangular blocks fixed across the chamber. The chamber is divided into two parts C, D, of which the upper, C, contains the yarn and is divided by partitions o, n, as shown, at the edges of which are the rollers s, t. To the first two partitions n are attached heating pipes x, y. Triangular blocks 6 direct the air against the yarn. The lower compartment D contains a fan 5 with two inlets drawing air from the outside or from an opening 12 in the compartment C as may be desired, and delivering it over heating-pipes x to an opening 4 in the upper compartment near the point of entry of the yarn.
