Abstract

7762. Paine, W. H May 25. Actuating ; packing.- Relates to thermally-controlled valves of the type used in pipe lines conveying gasoline, illuminating- gas, &c., for cutting off the supply in the event of fire. The present arrangement comprises alift valve 12, a spring 38, a packing- diaphragm 20, and a fusible link 32 hooked to the valve stem at 34 and supported by a yoke member 25 fixed to the valve casing. The diaphragm is secured by a screw cap 17, which also secures the yoke 25 by means of an annular ring 21 provided with slots to receive the shouldered ends of the yoke. The fusible link is in two parts 27, 31 united by solder at 32.
