A scraper 33 is moved up and down in the pipe 12 by a rod 28 with a handle 39. The scraper carries a spring- pressed or rigidly fixed valve 16, and the rod 28 is normally fixed by a screw 37 or clamp. The water enters at 14 and leaves at 17.
