Abstract

6222. Markt, G. April 26. Switches, quick-action, combined with plug couplings. An extra pin on the plug part of the coupling engages the forked end of a U-shaped switch-lever which carries a roller pressed by a bow spring so as to give a quick movement in opening and closing. In the construction shown, the switch lever 15 is pivoted at 16 on a bracket 13 which is fastened inside the hollow back part of the plug base 1. The forked end of the lever carries the roller 19 bearing on the spring 22. During the insertion of the plug, the extra pin 27 pushes on the roller and causes a bridging-contact 20 to meet base contacts 10, 11. Owing to the shape of the spring and the lost motion between the prongs of the fork, the closure of the circuit takes place quickly. During the withdrawal of the plug, the pin 27 acts on the plain prong 17 and separates the contacts, the spring giving a quick break. The forked end of the switch lever is separated from the contact end by insulation 21.
