Nitric acid. - The distillation of nitric acid from a mixture of nitrate and sulphuric or other suitable acid is rendered more uniform, and blockage in the retorts avoided by employing nitrate made up into briquettes. A small proportion of sulphuric acid or bisulphate is preferably added to the nitrate before briquetting.
