Abstract

2553. Ebrill, G. Feb. 17. Siphons.-The object is to remove bubbles of gas as they collect in the crown of a siphon. in the form shown in Figs. 1 and 2, a fine tube 0 leads from the crown to a point T beyond a bend in the discharge end of the siphon, or, as shown in Figs. 3 and 4, ends outside the siphon, being provided, if desired, with a stopcock P. The tube is fine enough to enable bubbles entering singly with the liquid completely to fill its bore and to be carried along therein with the liquid. In the form shown in Fig. 5, one or more tubes R lead from the crown or from the fine tube 0 to a vessel Q provided with a tube S for filling the vessel with water and allowing the air to escape. Stop-cocks are placed as shown.
