Abstract

23,688. Cloudsley, J. L. Oct. 24. Meters.-In the overflow box m of a wet gasmeter is a discharge siphon, comprising an outer tube o with V-shaped notches p at its lower end, and an inner tube q discharging outside the meter by a spout r, the lower end of which is squared to obtain a capillary action and provided with a cap (not shown). When the water level in the overflow box is depressed by the pressure of the gas to the notch p, a bubble of gas ascends the tube o and, remaining at the top, stops the siphon. The tube o and inner tube q may be extended through the partition n. According to the Provisional Specification, the end r may be narrow and a non-return valve may be fitted within it.
