Liquid-supply apertures, cleaning; regulating head of liquid directly.-In acetylene generators in which water is fed to carbide, through a tube or aperture in the carbide chamber, the feed being controlled by the gas pressure, a clearing rod or pin is provided for the feed tube or aperture and is operated automatically by the variations in water-level. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the closed carbide chamber b has a central water feed-tube c provided with a clearing-rod e carried by a float f; a similar arrangement is described for operating a pin in the feed-aperture of an open carbide chamber covered by a sealing-bell. In the construction shown in Fig. 3, the float f is on the surface of the water and operates the rod e by a rod k and lever l.
