Abstract

352. Warner, R. L. Jan. 8. Sights.-Relates to lift. up leaf sights of the kind that are elevated by a rotary member, as described in Specification 3023/13. The invention consists mainly in providing the rotary member with a continuous camsurface, and in special means for detaining the rotary member in the desired position and for limiting its movement. The cam is held in the desired position by a friction brake, or by a detent which may also form a clicking indicator. In the construction shown in Figs. 4, 5, and 6, the spindle of the cam f carries a collar f<3> in which are notches f<4> adapted to be engaged by a spring plunger g, Fig. 6. A scale is marked on a collar f<1>, also forming part of the rotary member. The cam itself is formed with stops f<8>, Fig. 5, adapted to limit its movement by engaging a projection e<1> on the leaf. The notches f<4> may be dispensed with, the collar f<3> being either quite plain, as shown in Fig. 7, or knurled. In the construction shown in Figs. 18 and 19, the cam S, which is mounted on the sight leaf, is knurled and engages a knurled plate s<1>, Fig. 19, on the sight base.
