Abstract

Wheels, facilitating detachment of.-In detachable wheels for motor-cycles, side-cars, &c. in which the hub h, adapted to be declutched from the chain-wheel d or equivalent member by an axial movement, is normally restrained from such movement by a removable spindle c extending through the hub and both fork ends and secured by a nut screwed on to one end, the spindle at or near its extremity remote from that in the vicinity of the chain-wheel is externally screw-threaded as at n to engage with the fork end or a part carried thereby. As shown, the spindle engages with a socket or bearing b secured to the fork end by the clamping action of an enlargement p and a nut q, a similar bearing, but without an internal screw-thread, being provided at the chain-wheel end of the hub. The spindle is screwed up till a collar o bears against the socket.
