Abstract

24,308. Parkes, S. R. Dec. 18. Latches, preventing operation of.-A lavatory-door or like latch B is arranged to be locked from outside by a key inserted in the hollow handle E, which key rotates the quadrant F, thereby locking the latch tumblers b<1>, b<2> and blocking the latch, and at the same time moving, through the rod f<1>, the indicator slide p<1>, to exhibit an " out of order " notice. The latch is also locked by the sliding spring-controlled pin k<4> entering an aperture b<6> in an arm of the latch, this pin being operated by a cam k<3> on a shaft K, which is rotated from inside by a handle, and from outside by a key, disks k<2>, k<5> on the inner and outer ends of the shaft indicating " locked " or " unlocked " and " engaged " or " vacant " respectively.
