Abstract

Clips, pivoted-jaw.-A clip, for use in connexion with life-saving belts or garments in which two india-rubber or like chambers containing chemicals are connected by a neck from which the clip can be readily released, is formed in two readily detachable parts R, N, which are fitted through sheaths formed by a strip of india-rubber affixed externally on each side of the neck connecting the chambers C. In the form shown, the member R of the clip is provided with a closed slot, in which is a rivet U connecting a ring X and a loop Y carrying a cord Z. The member N has a slot V adapted to fit over the rivet U, and a tongue S adapted to engage a slot T in the member R. The ring X, in its upper position, holds the members N, R in engagement, gripping the neck of the belt, and on pulling the cord Z, the member N is released at its lower end, and the belt is automatically inflated.
