Abstract

23,722. Johnson, W. Dec. 8. Renewable calks.- Relates to horseshoe cogs which are formed in two parts 1, 2 adapted to be fastened in a detachable manner by c l a m p i n g. The clamping is effected by a screw 3 which passes freely through a hole 11 in one part and screws into the other part. The head 12 of the screw is preferably tapered, and the hole 11 is enlarged to receive the head, a squared part 13 being provided to take a spanner. The lips 8 may be thinned down at 10 to facilitate penetration between the hoof and the shoe. The road-gripping edges 4 may be chisel-shaped, and adjacent sides may be cut away as shown in dotted lines 5. The inclined sides may be grooved vertically.
