[Published under Seetion 91 of the Act.] Turning - gear. - An electric motor 4 used as turning-gear is carried on a pivoted support 5, which has an extension 6 constrained to bear on one or other of two stops 7, 8 by a spring 9. The switch for the motor is connected to the motor, so that movement into the position shown connects the pinion 3 on the armature shaft to the engine fly-wheel and closes the switch. When the engine picks up speed, it causes the motor to rock on its support into the disengaged position and opens the switch.
