Abstract
22,944. Adams, W. S. June 2, [Convention date]. [Addition to 22,259/14.] Axle-trucks and bogies.-A modification of the construction described in the parent Specification for damping the vertical and lateral movements of a truck bolster comprises at each end of the bolster a bar 17 and an adjustable spring 26, each pivoted at one end to a bar 16 mounted in bearings on the bolster, and at the other end to a bar 25 mounted in bearings on the truck frame. The ends of the bars 16, 25 are formed as pins journaled in brackets 9, 22 secured to the bolster and to the truck transom respectively, and the pin at one end 11 of each bar is reduced and threaded to receive nuts 12 and a helical spring 13 disposed between spring seats. The bar 17 is pivoted to the bars 16, 25 by bolts 18, each having a head 19 on its lower end and reduced and threaded at its upper end to receive nuts 21. The spring 26 bears on the central portion of the bar 17, and is pivoted at its ends on the bolts 18, and its tension is adjusted by the nuts 21.
