Bricks and building-blocks, special shapes of; metal-skeleton bricks and building-blocks.-Interlocking bricks or blocks for linings for pits, shafts, tunnels, &c., and for the arches of bridges, retaining- walls, &c., comprise end portions c together equal in length to the central portion a, the end portions being similarly grooved and the grooves being co-terminous with projecting ribs on the central portion, which ribs are supplemental to the grooves. The end portions c may have the cross-section shown in dotted lines either in Fig. 5 or Fig. 6, while the central portion has the cross-section shown in dotted lines in the other of the two Figures. When assembled, the blocks interlock and break joint. The blocks are preferably reinforced by steel rods e, and additional reinforcing-members f, g may be placed in the projections and tied to the rods e by wires h, i. The blocks may be of straight or curved form. The Provisional Specification also states that the reinforcing-bars may have splayed or inclined extensions running into the projections of the blocks; further, some of the blocks may be in halves longitudinally and of a reduced thickness.
