Multiple-seam sewing-machines; chain-stitching and double-loop and other loop stitching.- In double-loop stitch sewing-machines, the looper performs oscillatory loop seizing and shedding movements on a supporting-bar and has substantial rising and falling needle-avoiding movements due to the tilting of the supporting-bar about an axis perpendicular to its own axis The looper 25 is mounted on a carrier 26 loosely secured on the supporting-bar 28 and oscillated by a pitman 31. having ball-joint connexions 30, 24, respectively, with the carrier and a crankpin on the under-shaft 20. The bar 28 is pivoted at one end on a pin 33 and guided between ribs 34 at the other end and is tilted by the pitman 37 and an eccentric on the under shaft. A hollow work-supporting post 1<a>, Fig. 2, containing the looper and feeding mechanism is detachably secured to the bed of the machine by screws 56 and dowel-pins to permit one form of post with its contained parts to be replaced by another for a different class of work.
