Abstract
19,318. Preston, F. G. P., and Lambert, W. Sept. 1. Coating.-Consists in banding projectiles by spraying molten or volatilized copper or other metal from a spray-burner b on to a rotating projectile a, burnishing the band by one or more weighted rollers e, and trimming it by a cutter g. The surface of the projectile is previously heated and cleaned from grease and damp by a blow-lamp, and is also, if desired, knurled or roughened by a sand-blast. The burner may be carried by a slide h, a roller h' at the lower end of which bears against the deposited band d so as to retract the burner automatically in proportion to the growth of the band.
