Description
Patented Mar. 12, 1935 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 1.994.215 VBIMETALLIC .m'rwm Herbert w. Graham and Samuel L. Case, Pittsburgh, Pa assignors to Jones & Langhlin Steel Corporation, Pittsburgh, Pa a corporation of Pennsylvania No Drawing." Application March 16, 1933, Serial No. 661,091
'1 Claim. This invention relates to bimetallic bodies and particularly to bodies having a ferrous base and a coating of zinc.
The use of zinc in hot galvanizing to protect steel is well known. The character of the zinc coating is always a matter of concern to the imparts a finer structure. Sheets or wires coated with this zinc-sodium alloy are superior to the ordinary galvanized coating. We have described a present preferred embodiment of our invention. It will be understood, however, that this is by way of illustration only and that it may be otherwise embodied or practiced. within the scope of the following claim.
We claim:
As a new manufacture, a bimetallic body comprising a ferrous base having a tightly'aidherent coating in direct contact with the base, the coating being a binary zinc-sodium alloy, the sodium being present in amoimts up to 2%.
